FANTOMEX SHOT A CHILD APOCALYPSE — THEN SECRETLY CLONED HIM AND RAISED HIM AS A HERO!
The Featured Fact

When Clan Akkaba resurrected Apocalypse in Uncanny X-Force Vol. 1 #1 (2010), Wolverine’s kill team expected a towering warlord and found a small boy in a bunker. Most of the team balked at murdering a child. Fantomex did not: he shot the young En Sabah Nur in the head and ended the resurrection on the spot.

What nobody on the team knew was that Fantomex had taken a DNA sample first. Inside the World, his artificial habitat where time runs fast, he grew a clone of the boy, named him Evan Sabahnur, and raised him on a simulated Kansas-style farm with saintly parents and regular visits from a kindly “Uncle Cluster” — Fantomex himself in disguise. The whole experiment asked one question: was the child doomed to become a monster, or had the original boy deserved the chance nobody gave him?

Evan, codenamed Genesis, got his answer in combat: unleashed against Archangel, who was ascending to take Apocalypse’s place, the clone fought for the heroes instead. He later enrolled at the Jean Grey School, where classmates flinched at his grey-blue face — a child’s version of the most feared mutant in history, trying very hard to be kind.

Why It's Obscure

A five-thousand-year-old tyrant, reborn as a schoolboy: the clone of Apocalypse is the X-Men’s strangest nature-versus-nurture experiment, run in secret by the one man who pulled the trigger.

The bunker
A child, not a conqueror — X-Force found Apocalypse reborn as a boy guarded by his Horsemen, and the mission collapsed into an argument about whether prophecy is a death sentence.
Uncle Cluster
The secret father — Fantomex visited his clone in disguise, determined to give Evan the gentle, moral upbringing the original En Sabah Nur never had.
Genesis
The codename — Evan took the name Genesis at the Jean Grey School: a beginning, pointedly not an ending of the world.
The mirror
What Angel saw — asked to read Evan’s essence, Angel told the boy he saw only goodness. He was lying kindly: underneath, he had seen Apocalypse.
