Doctor Doom delivered Reed Richards' daughter. Sue Richards' pregnancy was failing — the radiation-saturated biology that had already cost the Richards a baby was threatening both mother and daughter, and Reed Richards could not solve it. In Fantastic Four Vol. 3 #54 (2002), Victor von Doom combined his science with his sorcery and brought the baby safely into the world himself.
Doom's help came with a price — not money, not territory. He got to name the child. He named her Valeria, after his own childhood love from Latveria, and swore she was under his protection. Reed and Sue agreed. Every day, the Richards would call their daughter by the name of Doom's lost love — and remember that Doom had saved them when Reed could not.
The bond stuck. Valeria Richards grew into a genius rivalling both Reed and Doom, calls him 'Uncle Doom,' visits Latveria, and remains one of the very few people Doom genuinely respects. The delivery was a power play — but the godfather relationship outlived the scheme.
Why It's Obscure
Doom stealing cosmic power is expected. Doom as the Richards family's midwife, naming-rights holder and favourite uncle is the twist that keeps paying off decades later.
