THE JUGGERNAUT GOT A DAY JOB DEMOLISHING BUILDINGS
The Featured Fact

Cain Marko's comeback began at rock bottom. After a demon-possessed Magik tore the Gem of Cyttorak out of him and banished him to Limbo, a powerless Cain escaped by sacrificing his old armour, then woke in a hospital to a telepathic visit from Charles Xavier — who had to tell his stepbrother that the mutant nation of Krakoa would not grant a human citizenship. The X-Men's oldest wrecking ball was officially unemployable in mutant paradise.

So he rebuilt himself without asking permission. At a forgotten forge of Cyttorak, the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak bonded onto Cain and became a new suit of armour he can summon at will — power drawn from the Bands rather than the Gem. When Cyttorak confronted him, Cain told the god he was finished working for gods and madmen.

Then the Juggernaut clocked in. In Juggernaut Vol. 3 #1 (September 2020), by Fabian Nicieza and Ron Garney, Cain works for Damage Control, demolishing battle-damaged buildings by hand because it undercuts the heavy machinery. Clearing squatters from a demolition site, he met homeless teenager D-Cel, whose deceleration fields can bleed off even his momentum — and after he dug her out of rubble his own charge brought down, the one person who can slow the Juggernaut became his sidekick.

Why It's Obscure

Plenty of villains reform. Fewer reform into the demolition trade, with a union-style day job, a teenage supervisor, and armour he finally owns outright.

The rejection
Krakoa's gates open to mutants only. Cain — human, enhanced by a god — was turned away by his own stepbrother, and rebuilt his life on the human side of the fence.
The Bands
His 2020 armour is forged from the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak and manifests on command. New source, new terms: Cain states outright that he no longer answers to Cyttorak.
The job
Damage Control hired the world's most famous collateral-damage problem to produce controlled collapses. He is, at last, breaking buildings that are already broken.
The brake
D-Cel radiates deceleration fields strong enough to drag the Juggernaut toward a stop. Every demolition crew needs an emergency brake; his talks back and films him for her channel.
