HE CLAIMED CITIZENSHIP ON MUTANT ISLAND!
The Featured Fact

Wilson Fisk has no powers, no mutant gene, and a rap sheet a mile long — yet in X-Men #20 (2023) he walked through a Krakoan gateway and declared himself a citizen of Krakoa, the mutants-only island nation, and mutantkind's own gatekeeper let him in. His ticket was not a power. It was a marriage certificate.

Fisk had married Mary Walker — Typhoid Mary — in Daredevil #36 (2021), the finale of Chip Zdarsky's run, just before his Devil's Reign war on New York's heroes cost him the mayor's office. Mary is a mutant, and Krakoa's laws welcome every mutant — so Fisk claimed citizenship by marriage, the way a spouse claims a passport.

The timing was pure Fisk: beaten, exiled from New York, and wanted for murder after Devil's Reign, he reached for the one jurisdiction on Earth that offered blanket amnesty and could not easily be extradited from. The Kingpin of Crime did not storm mutant island. He married into it — and later parlayed the foothold into a seat as White King of the Hellfire Club.

Why It's Obscure

Everybody knows Fisk as Daredevil's mayor-sized headache. Almost nobody knows the human crime boss once held citizenship on the mutants-only island — because he married a mutant.

2021
Daredevil #36 — Fisk marries Mary Walker, the mutant assassin known as Typhoid Mary (first appearance Daredevil #254, 1988). A wedding, then a war: Devil's Reign follows immediately.
Krakoa's rule
The mutant nation's founding promise: all mutants are citizens, past crimes forgiven. Mary qualifies on her own. Fisk's claim rides entirely on being her husband.
2023
X-Men #20 (Duggan & Caselli) — Mary and Fisk arrive through a Krakoan gateway and Fisk declares himself a citizen through the laws of marriage, to Sage's alarm.
The angle
Amnesty, sanctuary, and a power base no prosecutor in New York could touch. Even his honeymoon was a jurisdictional maneuver.
