Today's Fact
Verified against multiple independent sources. Issues cited below.
Raven Darkhölme has two famous mutant children — Nightcrawler and her adopted daughter Rogue. Her third child is the one she gave away. Posing as German spy Leni Zauber, Mystique seduced Victor Creed — Sabretooth — and gave birth to a completely human son, Graydon Creed, whom she abandoned for adoption.
Graydon grew up, learned both his parents were mutants who had discarded him, and built his life on resentment. First appearing in Uncanny X-Men #299 (1993), he founded the Friends of Humanity, an anti-mutant hate movement that terrorised peaceful mutants and mutant sympathisers — a mutant's son leading the mob against mutants.
The parentage was confirmed in Sabretooth: Death Hunt (1993), where Sabretooth only learns Leni Zauber was Mystique years later. Graydon later ran for high office on an anti-mutant platform and was assassinated — in a bitter twist, by a future version of Mystique herself in later retellings. No family in the X-Men weaponises abandonment quite like this one.
Why It's Obscure
Mystique has been a terrorist, a spy, and an X-Man — usually all three before breakfast. Her most damaging legacy may be her son: the human child of Mystique and Sabretooth who grew up to found the anti-mutant Friends of Humanity.
