Today's Fact

In the far-future timeline of Thanos Wins, the Mad Titan finally beat Earth's heroes and wiped out nearly all life. Frank Castle died with everyone else — then cut a deal with Mephisto to come back as a Ghost Rider. The flaming newcomer debuted in Thanos vol. 2 #13 (2017), was unmasked as Castle in #15, and got his full origin in #16.
The bargain had a catch nobody warned him about: a dead world holds nobody left to punish. Castle wandered an empty Earth for centuries and quietly lost his mind, until a dying Galactus arrived and made him a herald. The Power Cosmic poured into a Spirit of Vengeance produced the Cosmic Ghost Rider.
Even a heralded Rider could not stop Thanos, who killed Galactus and kept Frank on as his right-hand man — partly for muscle, mostly because the old tyrant relished Frank's Penance Stare as a highlight reel of his fondest memories. Frank's story rolled on into Cosmic Ghost Rider #1 (2018), where he travelled back to raise baby Thanos himself.
Why It's Obscure
Every other deal Frank Castle ever made cost him something small. This one cost him several centuries and his sanity.
