Today's Fact

THE WATCHER HAS A ROGUE NEPHEW — AND UATU HAD TO UNMAKE HIM TO STOP HIM!
The Featured Fact

Uatu isn't the only Watcher in the family with a record. His nephew Aron — a young Watcher first seen attending Uatu's own trial in Captain Marvel #39 (1975) — was placed under Uatu's mentorship, and learned exactly the wrong lesson: watching is boring; interfering is fun. Aron went rogue: secretly manipulating events on Earth, joining the Frightful Four, and — in Fantastic Four #321–333 (1988–89) — cloning the Fantastic Four, imprisoning the real team in suspended animation, and settling in to watch their dreams for entertainment.

It escalated for years. Doctor Doom ambushed Aron and siphoned his cosmic power into a containment device. Aron recovered, impersonated his own uncle to manipulate the Fantastic Four into helping him steal the power back, and hatched his final plan: collapse the Milky Way into a black hole and rebuild it as his personal pocket universe — a galaxy-sized toy he could rule and rearrange forever. When the Celestials threatened the Watchers, Aron saw his chance to dodge judgment entirely.

So Uatu did the thing Watchers never do, to the person he himself had mentored: he fought his nephew across realities and dissipated him — converting Aron into raw energy, later used to revive the One, the Watchers' supreme leader (Fantastic Four #400, 1995). For executing his own nephew, Uatu was stripped of his title and exiled by the Watchers. The oath's most famous breaker was punished not for helping humans — but for destroying family to stop family.

Why It's Obscure

Yesterday's fact: Uatu was tried for interfering. Today's: the young Watcher who watched that trial took notes — and became such a menace that Uatu had to dissolve him into energy and accept exile as the price.

1975
Captain Marvel #39 — Aron attends his uncle's trial for interference, fascinated, and is later given to Uatu as a mentee. Bring-your-nephew-to-court day ruined the cosmos.
1988–89
Fantastic Four #321–333 — Aron joins the Frightful Four, clones the FF, locks the originals in suspended animation and watches their dreams. Reality TV, invented by a god, starring stolen people.
DOOM
Doctor Doom ambushes Aron and drains his cosmic power into a containment unit for safekeeping. Even a rogue Watcher can get mugged by Doom.
1995
Fantastic Four #400 — Aron plots to fold the Milky Way into a pocket universe; Ant-Man wrecks the device; Uatu dissipates his nephew into energy to revive the One — and is exiled for it. The family reunion ended with an execution and a pink slip.
